Italian Cultural Institute, Madrid
Spain
The travelling exhibition “ART FACTOR – The Pop Legacy in Post-War Italian Art” comes to its fourth leg in Spain, opening the second year of the international tour.
After Bratislava, Warsaw and Athens, the works are exhibited at the Italian Cultural Institute in Madrid, under the patronage of the Italian Embassy in Spain.
“As has been the case for the previous successful staging, I am confident that this exhibition will be warmly welcomed here in Madrid, too, since it is a cosmopolitan city that has always been open to and interested in the avant-gardes. In addition, this new, significant example of cultural diplomacy will contribute yet further to consolidating the links between Italy and Spain, which have been experiencing a new lease of life over recent years.”
Benedetto Giuntini, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Italian Embassy in Madrid
Art Factor celebrates Italian Art from the second half of the 20th century, charting Italy’s path towards Pop Art through the works of Valerio Adami, Franco Angeli, Enrico Baj, Lucio Del Pezzo, Gianfranco Pardi, Mario Schifano and Emilio Tadini, dating from the mid-1960s onward, and often deployed for purposes of social and cultural activism.
As in the case of these artists, the exhibition itself represents the desire to engage pro-actively in a project that benefits society, proving that it is possible to combine an entrepreneurial spirit with a dedication to the arts.
“Through this virtuous collaboration with BFF Banking Group, we are adding an important piece to the mosaic of dialogue between cultures, on which this institute works day in, day out. Together, we are presenting an opportunity to discover the artists and works of what was a vibrant time in Italian contemporary art. I am confident that this exhibition will arouse the passion of the Spanish community, as it has already done elsewhere.”
Marialuisa Pappalardo, Director at the Italian Cultural Institute of Madrid
Organized by BFF with the collaboration of the Italian Cultural Institute in Madrid and under the Patronage of the Italian Embassy in Madrid.
Curated by Maria Alicata.
The exhibition will be on display until June 24th, 2023. Access is free, from Tuesday to Sunday, from 12.00 am to 8.00 pm.
